Patong beach
is probably the best
known of all, behind the beaches
and elsewhere are plenty of Phuket
hotels and resorts. This Thailand island has plenty of beach resorts. Other beaches
beside Patong beach are Phuket Kata beach, Phuket Karon beach, Kamala beach, Surin
beach, Nai Harn beach, Mai Khao beach, Bangtao beach and more.

scene on this Thailand island (the biggest) is very diverse, if someone likes luxury
hotels and resorts its Laguna Phuket and Mai Khao Beach. Laguna
Phuket is a an assembly of high end resorts and villas at Bangtao
Beach north of
Patong Beach. Laguna
Phuket is an area where tin mines business was thriving in the old days
of Phuket, what they call Laguna now are former tin mines filled up with
water and looking like lagoons, it looks good
and fulfills the purpose that many people have a great luxury
accommodation around the lagoons and some Thai people and banks make lots of money with it,
but Patong Beach is the leading beach on the island.

beaches are very diverse, there are small
ones nestled
between granite boulders
and long stretched beaches such
as Karon and
Patong beach plus others on the northwest side of the island. The

year round.

take
the
road
along
the
west
coast,
there
are
plenty
of
other
beaches.
But
Karon
beach
has
a
good
location
is
very
long
stretched,

is
plenty
of
space,

Nai Harn Beach |
- Nai Harn is the southernmost at Phuket's west coast,
a beautiful location dominated by the Phuket Yacht club resort with a light sandy beach in front, very close are some more smaller beaches, read more |
Rawai Phuket Beaches |
- Rawai is at the south of the island,
a not so flashy area with plenty of accommodations in every price range. The beach is under control by a "Sea Gypsies" community and every day around two dozens speedboats and longtail boats wait for costumers to do a tour into the Andaman Sea around the island, read more |
Kata Phuket |

no
real
beach
until
down
to
Chalong
Beach.

- Chalong is the public marina on the island, with a few hotels, Chalong apartments and some housing estates such as Fisherman Way. The beach itself is not very attractive because there is a wide batch of shallow water in front which looks not very good at low tide. are on the west coast. Aside of Patong beach Karon beach is one of the very long beaches with the Karon beach resort
right on the waterfront. All other Karon resorts have the beach road between the resort and the beach, but no real problem all this

Phuket
vacation

comfortable
as
possible. Karon also has a lively nightlife (but on a much smaller scale than Patong) with some open air go go bars other Thai bars and plenty of restaurants plus some huge shopping tents along the beach road with all kind of items such as shoes, clothing and similar things. Its not as big as Pratunam in Bangkok but things are cheap and they have all the stuff a traveler could need including souvenirs etc.
Aside of lazing on the beach, visiting restaurants and other things to do in Phuket, shopping probably has the most temptations and it makes some sense since all not imported item are quite low priced. Most people coming on vacation to the island need another suitcase when they leave.
- Phuket is not only
a great tropical island its also the right place for a great beach vacation. The real good beach at Phuket is always on the west coast of the island, scenic places you probably dreamed about. The blend of natural and man-made beauty got a little less beautiful since a construction boom started about 2005 and a tsunami of Thais from the north of Thailand flooded Phuket Island.
That even affected the beaches at Phuket because people with obviously the right 'connection' were even able to put huge restaurant structures right into the sand of the beach, makes the whole beach look less appealing. Phuket has real attractive ocean beaches with. almost white and yellow sand beaches they are mostly lined with pine and palm trees still showing the idyllic scenes of a tropical island in the Andaman Sea. Actually most beaches don't have palm trees but pine trees.
If you want to use a beach in Phuket to get your right sun tan, do it carefully, the sun is very strong also because the reflection from the water and the light sand, within half hour you have a sunburn. Means better spend a few Baht to the beach lady and lay down under a umbrella.
If you are ready for a beach massage just look around, at almost every beach you will find the beach massage ladies. Usually fat women from the north of Thailand who came to Phuket Island to earn some money, they do quite a good job sometimes the rough way. Phuket weather is usually excellent because of the topography of the Andaman coast. Usually the clouds are coming in from the Indian Ocean and deliver their wet load onto the hilly coastal region of Khao Lak to Ranong in Thailand and between Kawthaung (the former Victoria Point) and Myeik or Mergui further north in Myanmar. Actually Myeik, about 600km north of Phuket is one of the wettest place on earth.
During October - November the Phuket weather pattern changes a little bit since the bad weather comes in from the other side, that means from the east over the South China Sea and brings torrential rain. Extreme flooding are the result but a big part of this flooding is just because the people don't clean ditches and make no escape channels for the water. If you don't want the massage on the beach there are massage parlor. Thai ladies do the famous special Thai massage for the guys and more. You found the right massage parlor when you see a couple of pretty girls sitting in front of the parlor, do some bargaining don't pay just what they ask for.

Beaches are full with tourists from all over the world. Some of the better known beaches are Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Kata Beach, Kamala Beach and in the north west of the island is Mai Khao Beach where the JW Marriott and other Phuket luxury beach resorts are, just check the menu at left or the interactive map for more. Some beaches are crowded with tourists, particular Patong Beach and Nai Harn Beach, Nai Harn is in the south of Phuket and is just in front of a Meridien Hotel. others are secluded. If you want to do a beach hopping just rent a car or a motor bike and go, be very careful with the motor bike, since nobody takes traffic rules serious.
From

erupt but
not of a
scale
like at
Ko Phangan.. After a day in the water, relax at the beach hotel bar or hop along to one of the rocking nightclubs and nightlife bars at Patong.
