Probably the best beaches in the Cape Panwa area are around Yon Bay which is before arriving at Cape Panwa to the right, its a small road before Vanich Bayfront when coming from the north, there are several beach hotels, villa cluster and restaurants.

But around Panwa bay its very quiet, it needs to have a car or a motorbike to move around, its a rather remote area at the south eastern end of the island. In the center of Yon Bay is a pearl farm and usually a couple of sailing boats are anchored.

It is not possible to cross the creek towards Chalong Bay, it needs to drive back to Phuket Town and after again to the south towards Chalong, Rawai and the Karon Kata Beach area.

The area is very hilly with steep slopes towards the beach and some hotels are built right into the slopes. If someone don't want to walk up down the whole time its probably not the best to stay here. The Cape Panwa Hotel got a big publicity boost when Mr. Leonardo Di Caprio and the movie crew stayed here when they made a movie "The Beach". This is also the home of the Phuket Aquarium and a few km before the end of the road is Phuket deep sea port.
