This island in the Andaman Sea with great beaches
and lush tropical vegetation is the right location to experience
great vacations we show what's up with plenty of pictures,
a nice place in southern Thailand.
Some
waterfronts are among the best on this planet and naturally
plenty of hotels and resorts are there.
Patong beach
is probably the best
known.
The hotel and beach resort scene on Thailand's biggest island is very diverse, there are luxury hotels and resorts at Laguna Phuket
which is an assembly of high end resorts and villas at Bangtao
Beach north of
Patong. At Mai Khao
are also several resorts plus villas and apartments in the top category,
but not only. Others
are Kata beach, Karon, Kamala, Surin, Nai Harn, and more. There is a
good blend of high end accommodations and all the way down to cheap
apartments for around Baht 4000,- / month at downtown.
|
|
The waterfronts plus nightlife make a excellent vacation
destination
with plenty of flights coming in everyday.
Weather is mostly sunny, even during monsoon when the rain
really pours down, after a while the sun is shining again,
this fact makes the island a genuine all year round tourist
destination, the best example is Patong beach which is busy throughout the year.

How to
Travel to Phuket
has a simple answer, either
with the aircraft, a bus, a
car, a motorbike or with the
ship.
Because the country has a
good road network and an
International Airport it is
easy to arrive without major
problems. Many people don't
know about the best and
cheapest method to hit the
island that's per bus from
anywhere in Thailand and
Malaysia. |
|
 |
Phuket
weather
follows the monsoon pattern
but has somehow distinct
differences to the area
around such as Phang Nga and
Krabi, what does that mean?
It rains less because the
topology allows the clouds
which come in from the
Indian Ocean or Andaman Sea
to pass without offloading
the flood. Actually they
airstream is in a way that
they stall at the costal
hills in the north and water
the coast between Kha Lak
and Ranong. |
|
Southern Thailand
offers a diversity of holiday related themes and
availability for rather moderate prices. This pricing
spectrum covers a wide range in the hotel sector and
services such as restaurants plus villas, bungalows, nightlife and so on, it wont end there
and when getting tired take a famous Thai massage and visit
Bangla road. |

Patong Beach Road and waterfront at the east coast of the
island. |
|
At the waterfront
are small
sand strips nestled
between granite boulders
and long stretched ones such
as Karon and
Patong plus others on the
northwest side of the
island.
They usually have
casuarinas in the back,
casuarinas are pine trees
with long needles looking
quite good, palm trees in
front are rather rare as it is visible at.
The best to
categorize the
waterfronts is by
their geographic
location
since this
determines the
"character" of them.
If you want to go
swimming into the
Ocean only the west
coast is relevant
because at all other
sites the very
shallow coral reefs
approach the shore
and even at high
tide there is no
depth for swimming.
Actually it wont
matter much because
every resort and
housing compound has
a swimming pool and
all other beaches
are only within up
to an hour away.
Starting in
the very
south west
with Nai
Yang Beach
right in
front of the
Phuket Yacht
Club Resort
the former
Meridien
Resort.
This are is
very
attractive
for people
who want to
stay away
from the
megacrowd at
Patong, Kata
and Karon
Beach.
Left and
right are
some more
small
beaches two
of them are
only
accessible
via an
underpass
through the
car park of
the resort,
it's worth
to do this
short trip
since the
scenery is
great. |
|
|
|
|
No
gravel
is around,
the
sand quality is from fine to
crude and
golden
yellow
sand
are
common,
with
real white
sand
not
existent.
This
wont
matter
since
the
sand
quality
is
quite
good
anyway,
actually,
the
further
north
west
the
lighter
the
sand
becomes.
This Thailand
island is a all
year vacation
destination
since Phuket
weather is fine
except around
the last 2 weeks
in October and
the first 2
weeks in
November when a
real flood is
pouring down,
this is also
the biggest
Thailand Island
the next biggest is
Koh Chang
close to the
Thai
Cambodia
border. Behind
the border are plenty of
Cambodia Beaches
which can easily match
Thailand Beaches considering
how they look like but in
terms of infrastructure they
are no match. |

The
best Andaman Sea
Front
is at the west coast,
beside
of Patong, Karon, is one
of the very long
strips with the Karon beach resort
right on the
waterfront. All
other Karon resorts
have the road
between the resort
and the water, but
no real problem all
this hotels have security
personal to stop the
traffic for you to
make the vacation as
comfortable as
possible.
Karon also has a lively nightlife (but on a much smaller scale than Patong) with some open air go go bars other Thai bars and plenty of restaurants plus some huge shopping tents along the
waterfront road with all kind of items such as shoes, clothing and similar things. Its not as big as Pratunam in Bangkok but things are cheap and they have all the stuff a traveler could need including souvenirs etc.
Aside of lazing on the sand, visiting restaurants and other things to do in Phuket, shopping probably has the most temptations and it makes some sense since all not imported item are quite low priced. Most people coming on vacation to the island need another suitcase when they leave.

This places are just the right place for a great vacation. The are on the west coast of the island, scenic places you probably dreamed about. The blend of natural and man-made beauty got a little less beautiful since a construction boom |
|
started about 2005
and myriads of Thai
people from the
north flooded Phuket
Island. That even
affected everything because people with obviously the right 'connection' were even able to put huge restaurant structures right into the sand, makes the whole
less appealing. But
there are still
enough places
showing the idyllic
scenes of a tropical
island in the
Andaman Sea.
If you want to get your right sun tan, do it carefully, the
tropical sun is very strong also because the reflection from the water and the light sand, within half hour you have a sunburn. Means better spend a few Baht to the lady and lay down under a umbrella. |

Pansea Beach at the
west coast is real
idyllic |
|
|
|
Plenty of palm trees
behind the
coniferous trees and
many hotels moved
palm trees to the front to give what the tourists are expecting,
there are no
problems
to
replant
palm
trees.
Actually
there
is
one
very
strange
thing
in Thailand, among others, its strictly forbidden to cut
trees, that's a great idea, but palm trees are not counting as trees, yes, no yoke, so they can be cut. Naturally,
how to construct a resort, villas, hotels or other
accommodations when
it would |

At the west
coast
first
(from bottom) is Kata Noi, second is Kata and third is
Karon. |
|

Beach
Massage at Pansea |
be not allowed to
cut the palm trees
first? So they are
defined not as
trees Beach massage is available at almost every waterfront
usually some fat
ugly women from the
north of the country
are doing this job.
Beside of this type
of massage are other
Thailand massage
shops dedicated to
the guys with a sexy
ending, notable
Christine Massage at
Patong and Pearl
Hotel in the city,
they have famous
soapy massage.
There are some other massage
shops along various streets
at Patong and elsewhere were Thai
ladies do the famous special
Thai massage for the guys
and more. You found a massage
shop when you see a couple of pretty girls sitting in front of the parlor, do |

some bargaining
don't pay just what
they ask for.
The waterfront is
full with tourists
from all over the
world. Some of the
better known are Patong, Karon, Kata, Kamala and in the north west of the island is Mai Khao Beach where the JW Marriott and other Phuket luxury resorts are, just check the menu at left or the interactive map for more.
Some are crowded with tourists, particular Patong Beach and Nai Harn, Nai Harn is in the south of
the island and just in front of a Meridien Hotel. If you want to do a beach hopping just rent a car or a motor bike and go, be very careful with the motor bike, since nobody takes traffic rules serious.
From
time to
time
beach parties
erupt but
not of a
scale
like at
Ko Phangan.
After a day in the
water, relax at the hotel bar or
do a bar hopping along
Bangla Boad at
Patong.
